And the roots of Green Pastures Family Farm

Psalm 23: 1-4
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters,
3 He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and staff, they comfort me.

Hello! We are The Eickschens.
Scott, Alexa, Arietta and Ethan. Originally from west-central MN, we have lived and worked in the River Falls area since 2014. We’re the fortunate farmhands here at the farm and we’d like to share a bit about our path and our heart-posture toward what we do here.
We had the honor and opportunity to establish our professional lives together managing and eventually investing in a hotel in River Falls. Through this chapter, we were so fortunate to work with and for such wonderful people and organizations in the community. The relationships and experiences we gained through both mountains and valleys during this chapter have shaped our path in many ways.
In 2020, we began starting a family. We rode the pandemic roller-coaster with our business, as so many did; societally, financially, spiritually. We began to feel a resulting pull in a different direction, toward a dream we had been building in the background for a number of years. A more family-oriented business and one that could have a more direct impact on the world around us. A blend of true, back to its roots hospitality, agriculture and the outdoors.
Standing at a fork in the road, we decided to follow God into our decision and next steps; which we should have been doing all along. For the first time in our career path together, on a Saturday evening in July, we prayed to God together for His will to be done with our business and our future. Specifically, not our own will. But His; whatever that happened to be. And we asked him to please make it obvious..
He made it obvious the following Monday morning, when out of the blue a gentleman stopped in to ask about purchasing our business.
From that moment, God has led us on a beautiful adventure filled with many opened doors, plenty of closed ones, some necessary challenges, and some wild and beautiful turns of events. He has blessed us and made Himself known on the mountains as well as through the valleys; often even more-so in the valleys. And He’s blessed us with amazingly supportive and loving family and friends who have poured into us. And we’ve been both humbled and inspired by those who have gone before us. Our only part in all of this was to pray from the heart, to recognize and act upon His answer, and to just stand up and follow Him.. And to not get in the way. (We’ll always be working on that last part)
Our mission for this farm is for it to be a place of genuine rest, connection and celebration. And to provide a place for all to slow down and abide in God and his creation. We know that whatever is in store for this farm will be uplifting to the community and the region. And that even one might come to know His love and presence through this place. We assure you, our grass is certainly no greener than anybody else’s. Only He can provide the green pastures and quiet waters we all seek.
In Christ’s Love,
Scott and Alexa Eickschen
