The roots of Green Pastures Family Farm

Psalm 23: 1-4

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters,
3 He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and staff, they comfort me.

Hello! We are The Eickschens.
Scott, Alexa, Arietta and Ethan. Originally from west-central MN, we have lived and worked in the River Falls area for 10 years. Our passions are family, friends, community and spending time in nature. We had the honor and opportunity to establish our professional lives together managing and eventually investing in a hotel in River Falls.

Through this chapter, we were so unbelievably fortunate to work for and with such wonderful people and organizations in the community. The relationships and experiences we gained through many highs and lows during this chapter have shaped our path in many ways.

In recent years, we started a family and rode the pandemic roller-coaster as so many did. We began to feel a resulting pull in a different direction. Toward a dream we had been building in the background for a number of years. A blend of true, back to its roots hospitality, agriculture and the outdoors.

Standing at a fork in the road, we decided to leave it entirely up to God. For the first time in our career path together, on a Saturday evening in July, we prayed together for His will over our business and our future – whatever that happened to be. And to please make it obvious, because we’re both stubborn. The following Monday morning, out of the blue, a gentleman stopped in to ask about purchasing the business.

From that moment, God has led us on an adventure filled with many opened doors, a few closed ones, some necessary challenges, and some wild and beautiful turns of events. And some amazingly supportive and loving family and friends that have poured into us and gone before us.

Our only part was to pray from the heart, recognize His answer, and to just stand up and follow Him.. And to not get in the way. (We’re still working on that last part) We hope that whatever is in store for this place will be uplifting to the community and the region. And that even one might come to know His love through this place. We assure you, our grass is certainly no greener than anybody else’s. Only He can provide the green pastures and quiet waters we all seek.
